Nature Boy

One of Alex's nicknames is NatureBoy, and in these photos you can see why! He LOVES being outside. He LOVES dirt. He LOVES animals....and to my chagrin, he LOVES to pull worms in half. Ok, so maybe we he won't win any PETA awards anytime soon.....

We had a great weekend gardening with Oma and Opa. Alex helped Oma plant seeds and tomatoes, while Noah "helped" Opa dig a new flower bed--or two--or three.....poor Opa!

Alex filling up his watering can to drown....er....water the tomatoes

Opa digging a new flower bed while we all supervised.

Oh look! A worm!!!

Oh look! Two worms!....(aka...2 halves of a worm)

Gotta get all the pieces!

The weekend ended with an awesome BBQ at Casa Willis--I think most of the neighborhood was there. It was great to see a lot of people we have not seen over the LONG winter....I think the hood is coming alive again!!! YEA!

The Guateposse hits the Indy Zoo

Last weekend the Guateposse (Alex, Noah, and our dear friend Eduardo) went to the Indy Zoo with their mommies. We had a GREAT morning enjoying the warm sun and seeing the animals doing the same. Alex LOVES animals--he really enjoyed "talking" to the sea lions and pointing out how they splash. The polar bear never fails to captivate both boys as he swims his laps. Unfortunately I think every school in the greater Indy area was there, so the little ones got pummelled by some school kids. Needless to say, I introduced them to MAMA BEAR!
Once Eddie and his mommy joined us, the zoo was no longer safe for anyone. Both Noah and Eddie were on the loose, and when they were not smacking each other, they were squealing with delight running amongst the crowd. I must have said "sorry" and/or "excuse him" about 1oo times!!!

I hope this summer brings more such outing for our loveable Guateposse!!!!

"I see Backyard!"

This is Alex's latest request...what is he means is that he would like to see Backyardigans before bed. If you have never seen that show, I highly recommend it. It's these 5 friends (a moose, a penguin, a hippo and these two other pink things that I am not sure what they are) who go on all these "backyard" adventures---Alex LOVES it. It's got a lot of singing and dancing, which Alex really seems to like a lot. It's a heck of a lot more interesting than Diego or Dora, that is for sure!!!

Bounthy Bawz and Ten Chew!

If your first reaction to this title is, "huh?"...... welcome to my world. Noah has become quite "verbal." His affinity for language is amazing; the only problem is that HE is the only that seems to speak/understand it.

Actually, I think Noah speaks more at this age than Alex did, which is GREAT. He so desperately tries to communicate, but his pronunciation is basically nonexistent. For example, the two words in the title are "bouncy balls" and "thank you." If you can't guess those two, you have NO hope of understanding him! I, as his mother, of course can understand him perfectly. Let me demonstrate:
Noah: UGH!
Mommy: Oh, you want milk?
Noah: UGH UGH UGH
Mommy: Well, of course you can drink your milk out of your Elmo cup.
Noah: UGH UGH UGH
Mommy: Yes, it IS a nice sunny day today.
Noah: UGH?
Mommy: Sure, I'd be happy to change your diaper.
Noah: UGH
Mommy: I love you too!
Noah: Ten Chew!

Piece of cake!

Easter

I realize that Easter was almost 2 weeks ago, but two weeks goes by very quickly with the Guate-Geppert boys. We had a great little easter egg hunt in the front yard. Alex was totally into hunting down every last egg. By the time Noah caught on to the whole idea, Alex had pretty much scarfed up all the goodies. Still, we divided the spoils and got everyone appropriately sugared-up. The rest of the day was spent playing outside on a gloriously beautiful day!!!
