Conversation at Bedtime

Last night Alex and I had the following conversation as I was trying to convince him to go to bed:

Mommy: Alex, it's time to go to sleep--get in your bed.

Alex: NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mommy: You need to go to sleep....you are so tired.

Alex: NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I don't WANT to sleep!! I want to hibernate!!!!!!

Well said, my son!!

Plague

After a nice long run of being healthy, our little family got wallopped last week with nothing short of a plague. The boys went from "pathetically cute" to WTF(!) in about 2 hours. Thank goodness Oma and Opa were here for a scheduled visit--if they had not been here, I am not sure what I would have done as I was as sick as the boys. We almost needed to get a rotating shedule for the bathroom!
Here are some pictures I took while things were still in the "cute" stage.....

Things To Remember

It amazes me how fast the boys change and grow on a daily basis. I often find myself wishing I had written down something they did or said. Here are just a few examples:

1. I am raising an attorney: Alex. He will argue with me to no end. Yesterday we were driving back from Bloomington, and I told him we were going on the highway. He told me it is NOT called a highway because we are on the GROUND. I could not argue.

2. Every morning when Noah wakes up, he climbs out bed, whips the door to his room open and yells, "TAAAAADAAAAAA!!!!!!" at the top of his lungs. Then he proceeds to RUN out of his room and into his day!

3. Noah now knows ALL the names of the Thomas the Tank Engine trains and frequently corrects me in no uncertain term when I get them wrong.

4. Alex has taken to reading the sports section of the newspaper.

That is all that my feeble little brain can recall at the moment. I must remember to do this more often!

Go COLTS!!!!

We have a serious case of "Colts Fever" at Casa Geppert. It started with me, but I fear it has spread to Alex...it is only a matter of time before Noah falls victim! Symptoms include loud, sudden, random outbursts of "GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", eating endless bags of popcorn (a stress reaction), flailing of arms and legs, and a weird sense of style:

We had a great time watching the Colts hammer the Baltimore Ravens last night--both boys got to stay up until half-time cheering on their favorite team! Mamma was so proud!!!!
Alex really is a football fan, and he often runs around in his "football man" get-up. He is most sad when his Peyton Manning shirt has to go in the washing machine. If I were to let him, he would wear it 24/7....and he has! Below are some shots of Alex's typical Sunday afternoon fashion choices:

Here Alex is on his way to the bathroom....notice the football and the newspaper (sports section).

And my personal favorite..........
Is this the most adorable football player you have ever seen, or what!!!!????
GO COLTS!!!!!!

Sledding Take Two

Today we FINALLY had above sub-Arctic temperatures (I think it was about 28 degrees!), so we decided to sledding again. I discovered that we have a great little hill right outside our front door....it is super tiny, but it is PERFECT for Alex and Noah. They can go for a little slide AND they can run right up with the sleds and do it again. The only problem is that the "hill" sends the boys across the shared driveway, which did not have much snow on it. Well, thank goodness there was PLENTY of snow in the grass, so I took a snow shovel and actually shovelled snow off of the lawn and put it on the driveway. If any neighbors saw me, they probably thought I had officially lost it!

WIPEOUT!!!

The boys discovered that the way to maximize speed and distance was to let the sled start down the hill and then run and dive on it. Sometimes they even landed ON the sled!! : )

Greyt Expectations

As you know, we recently lost our Gracie-Girl to cancer a few weeks ago. Well, I knew that our home would not be totally complete without a hound around, so on New Year's Day, Mr. Elliot came to live with us. He is a 3-year old fawn male from a racetrack in Wisconsin. The racetrack is closing, and the owners are trying to find "retirement homes" for 289 greyhounds. Our local greyhound rescue group got several hounds, and after meeting Elliot, I knew he was the hound for our little family. Of course, now I am TOTALLY outnumbered in male:female ratio!!! Inky and Elliot ADORE each other and are often found snuggled together on the big doggie bed. Of course, initially, Inky had to prove who the alpha dog was going to be......

Elliot does not seem to mind, as he is perfectly happy to curl up at my feet!

As much as Alex "like" Gracie, he is TOTALLY attached to Elliot. The two of them snuggle constantly, and Elliot can usually be found hanging out near Alex.

Poor Elliot was recently initiated by Noah. My little Picasso got a wee bit carried away with a red marker and colored Elliot's head red. I think the markers are washable......

Welcome home, Elliot!!!
