It was a bright and sunny day....

.....…when “The Package” from their Nouno arrived at the Geppert House on Kenwood Ave. Two little boys began to vibrate with excitement as their Mommy started to open the strangely shaped parcel. The eldest son could not stand it anymore and began trying to rip the cardboard that enshrouded the treasure that lay within. Only when the first glimmer of leather appeared, did the eldest stop…and stare…and gasp. “OH MY GOSH,” he exclaimed, “It’s a REAL bayball glove!!!!!!!” While the eldest was recovering from the sheer joy of that discovery, the YOUNGEST found…yes…not one, but TWO baseball bats. He grabbed them both squealing with delight and immediately tried to whack his brother. It was downhill from there……..Yet, the Mommy did not panic….oh no….the Mommy sat both little leaguers down and explained the concept of aluminum bats and their appropriate use.

With that, TWO straight hours of hitting and catching the ball ensued….they hit off the tee, they hit Mommy’s pitches, but they did NOT hit each other (a true miracle), although there were some close calls. While the youngest perfected his hitting off the tee, the eldest and Mommy played catch. Mommy was shocked at how well the eldest could catch a “mini-fly” ball and how well he could actually throw the ball.

Weather permitting, I think the Mommy will introduce the concept of running bases this afternoon after work. The boys know they need to run bases, but those bases could be anywhere and they can be run in any order, according to them.

After a SOLID afternoon of preschool baseball, the two little boys took tubbies and proceeded to PASS OUT before 8pm. And the Mommy was happy.
