Friday Catch-Up: Noah Day

In celebration of "Noah Day," Coici and I took the boys to Chuck-E-Cheese. OMG....talk about sensory overload. The boys LOVED it. Noah was so excited, he kept saying, "we are celebrating ME!!!"

Alex TOTALLY rocked skee-ball....Noah, on the other hand, rendered some innocent bystanders unconcsious with his throws....J/K!!

Wordy Wednesday

Last weekend we headed to Brown County with our dear amigas A and her Mommy, T, and Coici. We had a little "vacay" at the historic Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County Park. To say that we had a blast is an understatement! We arrived right at dinnertime and had a lovely buffet (Noah was FREE!!!) and then headed straight for the indoor water park. This place is GREAT for little kids--LOTS to do and small enough for parents to keep a close eye on the little ones. The pictures I took do not do this place justice. I forgot my camera (a cardinal sin), so the only pics I took were with my phone and only when we first got there. Otherwise, this mama was too busy swimming in the lazy river, racing her boys in swim races, getting "saved" by A in the little island and watching Noah go down the gi-normous water slide about ....oh...35 times!

The railing divides the zero-entry splash pool from the lazy river....
This is the water slide that Noah LOVED. Initially he went with me, but he insisted on going alone. So I strapped a life jacket (provided by the pool!) to him and off he went....the slide has a powerful current, so the kid FLEW down this slide, was tossed under water at the bottom, and as soon as he could come up for air would yell, "I wanna go again!!!"
Grab as noodle and hit the river......

After swimming for 2 hours the first night, the grown-ups got a little time in the hot tub (LOVED IT!). We all rinsed off, put on our jammies and headed for the cozy TV/DVD room and popped in a movie. We popped popcorn and had snacks, drinks and few adult beverages (A special THANK YOU to Mama T for opening beer bottles without an opener--my hero!). We crashed at 10pm.

The next morning, after breakfast in our jammies, we headed back to the water park for another 3.5 hours of non-stop fun! We concluded our little trip with a picnic in the park--hey, it was 45 BALMY degrees!!!

Noah Day 2011

My Dear Noah,
Three years ago today I held you in my arms for the very first time. Months of looking at pictures and reading updates finally translated into flesh and blood, and it was one of the best days of my life. You took everything in stride; from our first hello to our 10 hour sight-seeing trip to Chichicastenango....as long as your meals were on time, you were one happy boy! (some things have not changed!)

Even though you were a very sick little boy, you were such a trooper...I will always remember our week in Guatemala together, and I cannot wait to, someday, take you back and show you how absolutely beautiful your birth country is.

Now at the age of three, you are the "gusto" of our family--you approach everything in life with 110% of your very being. You still have THE BEST giggle in the whole world, and you have the ability to make people fall head-over-heals in love with you almost instantly. You are my constant reminder to live life to the fullest, and I thank God everyday that I have the honor of being your Mommy. I love you, Noodle!

Paparazzi or Animal Rescuer?

Day 4: (no, I am NOT kidding)
We had to get out. There was no way around it. SO, we met up with one of the boys' amigas, A, and her mommy and headed to...The Children's Museum (Yes, AGAIN). A is a huge Barbie fan, so we visited the Barbie Exhibit, and I must say the boys handled it well. Noah may have handled it a bit TOO well. As we were walking out, a full-on runway fashion show was starting starring little girls dressed up in various "ensembles." With music pounding, lights flashing, and models modelling, Noah leaps up from my lap and takes his place behind the camera and begins "taking pictures" of the models. [Meanwhile, Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" is playing in this Mama's head....but I digress....]
He has the makings of the Paparazzi!
We were THRILLED when we discovered that the new Dora and Diego Exhibit was open for museum members only...Dora and Diego have forever been a huge hit in our home, and the boys just LOVED exploring with their favorite explorers!
A little climb time!!

~ AMIGOS~
The BEST part of the exhibit: The Animal Rescue Center where young rescuers could try their hands at caring for injured "animals" complete with CT scanner, bandages, and other tools of the trade.
Noah single-handedly saved many animals including a badger, an otter, a cayman, and even baby jaguar. He may have the making of a great animal rescuer...if the whole Paparazzi thing does not work out.

Icepocalypse 2011

Day 2: It seems an eternity ago that I left work thinking, "ahhhh...a snow day will be nice." What the hell was I thinking??? Sure, a snow day is GREAT if you can hunker down with a good book and a blanket a little vino. TOTALLY different story when you are incarcerated with two maniacal stir-crazy little preschoolers who, I swear, spend all night dreaming of ways to torture each other and their Mama. Then they wake BEFORE the crack of dawn to carry out their master plan of destruction. Before I can even get anywhere NEAR the coffee maker, the house is a wreck, one boy has blood coming from somewhere, and dogs are looking at me like, "make it stop!"

Respite comes in the form of awesome amigos who let us come over for a Wii dance-athon and a brisk walk through the ice-covered neighborhood. Today we risked life and limb driving to the Rivi for a little swim and romp around the gym--SO worth it! To round out this day, the whole Krew got together for a little child hurling in our front yard. Beers in hand, grownups chucked small children on sleds across the ice. MUCH fun!

The best part: evenings. After days with NO naps, I have two adorable boys who LOVE to curl up on the couch, eat popcorn and watch some TV before toddling off to bed. So here we sit....toasty warm, tummies full, bodies exhausted, heart happy and droopy-eyed smiley faces....ok, so maybe it's not so bad afterall.

Wait, what's that....work and school are closed AGAIN TOMORROW??? AAAARRRRGGGGG

Alex with his ice-rash. Went over his sled and landed face first on the ice....it was almost graceful!
