Detroit "Zoo"

What can I say about the Detroit Zoo? It's quite lovely...nicely landscaped under a canopy of trees. Very historic. It really only lacked one minor thing: animals. It was weird...lots of the enclosures were empty. We still managed to have a good time, though. Guess what we did first: Zoo Train to see some animals....or so we thought....

Two of my favorite boys!

A WOLVERINE!! Since we were in Michigan, this was a MUST SEE.

Australian outback....can you see the little Joey snuggled with his mama??

A polar bear....sort of.

And what zoo is complete without....dinosaurs...huh? Actually this exhibit was the boys' favorite (even though they charged extra admission for this). These dinos moved and roared!

Hangin' with the original "Mr. T"

Noah saw this guy and said, "he's a plant eater! I'm going to feed him." Guess he wasn't hungry.

Toad Stool

The zoo did have a FABULOUS playground

LAND HO!

Alex at the helm

MOMENTOUS OCCASION: Both boys learned how to slide down the fire pole!

All in all a fun day...if you weren't looking for animals!

Pure Michigan: Port Huron

What better way than to start a vacation at the beach?! We decided to visit Port Huron and check out the beaches on "The Thumb" of Michigan. Guess who's driving....

We ended up at a small beach with great waves. Or so we thought. Unlike the Lake Michigan shores, these shores are very rocky, so with each wave came a waveload of rocks that would slam into one's shins. Alex was not a fan, but Noah could not have cared less....he loved the rock massages! Alex decides it's safer to stay on land and build forts.

Noah digging in his heals!

Mud GLORIOUS MUD!

Road Trip: Pure Michigan with Oma and Opa

Last week we went on a road trip to visit Oma and Opa in Michigan. We had a FABULOUS time! Here we are at the very first rest stop of the trip...and what does Noah do? He unpacks his trains and sets up shop.

I NEED train time, Mommy!

Upon arrival in Michigan, Noah unloaded his bike and Alex unpacked his new kite. Even though there was not much wind, the boys gave it a good go.

Travelling all day is exhausting, so the little men rested with a little TV time....

Within an hour of our arrival, Oma and Opa's living room was converted into a camp site. We tried to sleep in the tent but, as Alex put it, "it's just not so comfy."

A game of Zoo Mix Max with Oma...I played this same game when I was their age!!

On the way back to Indy, we snacked at the "Back-of-the-van Cafe." Quite yummy!

Each day in Michigan was VERY busy, so I will do individual posts of our "Pure Michigan" adventures. Stay tuned!

Open For Business!

While "the grown-ups" had yard sales this past weekend, the younger members of the K-Krew opened the FIRST Kenwood Lemonade Stand. Let me tell you, it was quite an operation! With the help of two adorable blonds, the Three Amigos had their hands full! AND when they were not fighting or eating/drinking/generally consuming the merchandise, they even made a few dollars! ...Mostly in tips....
